STEAK SANDWICHES WITH BARBECUE SAUCE RECIPE
Ingredients:
2 pounds top round
steak, cut across the grain in
1/4 inch- thick slices
About 6 rectangular
French rolls ( split, toasted and buttered)
Instant meat tenderizer ( Optional)
About 3 tblsp
Each salad oil and butter or margarine
Barbecue, Sauce ( recipe follows)
How to make steak sandwiches with barbecue
sauce:
- Cut steak in to pieces slightly larger than the rolls.
- If desired, use meat tenderizer according to package
directions.
- In a 10 to 12 inch frying pan.
- Heat 1 tblsp of salad oil and tblsp butter over high heat
until the fat flows in ripples when you tilt the pan.
- Add meat to pan without crowding about 2- 3 pieces at a
time.
- Cook about 1 minutes on each side or until lightly brown.
- Add oil and butter as needed to prevent sticking
- Transfer meat as it is cooked to a platter
- Keep warm as the meat stands.
- Some juices will accumulate on the platter.
- Add them to the sauce before serving.
- Tip the cut side of a half roll in the sauce
- Top with 2 or 3 pieces of steak.
- Repeat to make each sandwich.
- Barbecue Sauce:
- 1 tblsp butter or margarine
- 2 tblsp firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 tblsp Worcestershire.
- 1 tsp prepared mustard
- 1/2 cup water
- Melt butter in a pan.
- Add tomato sauce.
- Add 1/2 cup finely chopped green onion
- Cook until limp. Stir to blend
- Heat to boiling and serve.
